After completing a 6-week summer program through their Snap Design Academy, I was hired as a freelance internal designer to work on some projects with Snap's Design team. Below are a couple of the completed projects I designed for/with them.
Snap 10th Anniversary T-Shirt Design
The objective for this project was to create a t-shirt design for Snap's 10th anniversary following design directions and brand guidelines. Client wanted to use Black unisex t-shirts and keep the design within a 20"H X 13' W or smaller dimensions.
Inspired by the design sophistication of the new spectacles revealed in the 2021 Partner Summit, the designs/typography used on Version 2.1 have a black on black print. Given that this year marks a big milestone for the company, I decided to create a modern, tech-y vibe while re-emphasizing Snap’s company values, as those values have been carried throughout the company culture over the years, see Version 2.2.
URMiT Ghost Frame
A Ghost Frame is a visual representation of a team, project, group, department, concept, value, and more, that is placed in the frame of the Snap logo. The Underrepresented Minorities in Tech Group (URMiT) requested a Ghost Frame design that communicates their values, what they do, and who they represent; Black, Latinx, and Indigenous population in tech and engineering.
To ensure that the ghost frame encompassed their values, the last round of designs included illustrations of individuals with facial characteristics to represent race/ethnicity. In addition, I included a subtle network design to represent technology and a globe to indicate that Snap is a global company and inclusive of anyone and everyone around the world.
